Photo FlyBoy FAA Waivers and Authorizations
Flying your Drone (sUAS) in controlled airspace can be a little tricky but has come a long way since the implementation of Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC). Even though LAANC allows instant authorization to fly in controlled airspace many Airports are not currently active. In these cases, you need additional authorizations from the FAA. Below is a list of Waivers and Authorizations Photo FlyBoy has received to fly in controlled airspace that is not supported by LAANC. To see a visual representation of the current Airports supported thru LAANC visit DroneFlyZone.com. Green grids mean supported by LAANC Red grids are not supported yet. Check back frequently as these maps are always being updated. If you need any help determining the airspace of your project simply contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
Being a Licenced Part 107 Drone operator doesn’t mean you can fly your drone anywhere you like even for clients. You need authorization thru the FAA or LAANC system. A good portion of controlled airspace is covered thru the LAANC system however there is still a lot that is not. To be able to fly in controlled airspace not yet covered by LAANC you need Authorization from the FAA.
Drone (sUAS) operators who want to fly outside the requirements of the Small UAS Rule (Part 107) may request a waiver and/or airspace authorization.
